Mathematica 6.0.2 has been installed on managed RedHat Linux workstations, in place of version 6.0.1.

Maple upgraded on RedHat Linux

Maple has been upgraded from version 11.02 to version 12.00 on managed RedHat Linux workstations. For more information, see What's New in Maple 12.

Matlab upgraded on RedHat Linux

Matlab has been upgraded from version 7.5 release 2007b to version 7.6 release 2008a on managed RedHat Linux workstations. For more information, see What's New in Release 2008a.

Matlab upgraded on RedHat Linux

Matlab has been upgraded from version 7.4 release 2007a to version 7.5 release 2007b on managed RedHat Linux workstations. Three more toolboxes are now available: Curve Fitting, Image Processing, and Spline. For more information, see What's New in Release 2007b.

NoMachine Server and Client update

RedHat Linux Upgrade

RedHat Linux 5 has been loaded on all CSG managed Linux workstations including the three student labs. Here are details of what's new in Redhat Linux 5.

Wireless upgraded in MLH

CSG in coordination with ITS has added a number of new wireless access points to MacLean Hall. There is now ubiquitous wireless access in MacLean.

R upgraded on RedHat Linux

R has been upgraded from version 2.4.1 to version 2.5.1 on managed RedHat Linux workstations.

Maple upgraded on RedHat Linux

Maple has been upgraded from version 11.00 to version 11.01 on managed RedHat Linux workstations. For more information, see Maple 11.01 Update Details and Downloads.

S-Plus upgraded on RedHat Linux

S-Plus has been upgraded from 7.0 to 8.0 on managed RedHat Linux workstations.

Mathematica upgraded on RedHat Linux

Mathematica 6.0 has been installed on managed RedHat Linux workstations. The older version, 5.2, will also remain on the workstations and will be the default version of the application.

Matlab upgraded on RedHat Linux

Intel Compilers upgraded ....

The Intel C/C++ and Fortran compilers have been upgraded from version 8.0 to version 9.0. This upgrade includes compilers for the x86_64 architecture, as well as the usual 32-bit compilers.

Results from the scheduled down time:

1) Windows machines patched & rebooted for WMF exploit. If you have an unmanaged windows machines, run windows update ASAP.

2) Installed faster file server with new OS and faster/larger disk sub system allowing for increased quotas. Unmanaged users will need to reboot to access new file server (fileserv.divms.uiowa.ed).

The color printer p325clr located in room 325MLH has hardware problems and will not be repaired due to its age. For color printing, please print to your departments color printers as indicated below:
