The Computer Support Group (CSG) of Mathematical Sciences does not provide email lists for classes. Instructors who would like to send mail to their students via a list have three options to choose from:
Iowa Courses Online (ICON)
ICON includes the capability to send email to all students in a class. Adds and drops are automatically added to and deleted from the email list for your class. The ICON mail function reportedly does not work at times, so you may want to try one of the other services listed below.
Mail Utilities
Faculty can use the Mathematical Sciences Mail Utilities to create email lists. If you choose to create your own list, you will have to add and delete student addresses yourself.
To use this service, login to the Mail Utilities, using your Mathematical Sciences username and password. Create the list using the "Add List" function. Then, enter the addresses of your students via either the "Edit List" or "Upload List" menu selections. At the end of the term, please delete your list.
Osiris
Osiris offers a means of emailing students in a class, and like ICON, it automatically updates adds and drops. To use Osiris, follow these steps:
-
Login to Osiris.
Go to the Detailed Class List.
Choose the "view without photo" option.
Choose the appropriate section or sections from the drop-down lists.
- Click on the button labeled "Send Bcc Webmail" at the top of the screen.
