The Computer Support Group (CSG) of Mathematical Sciences offers these services to assist instructors:
Course Accounts
The CSG will create accounts for any students in your course who do not already have accounts. These accounts will expire after the current term. To have course accounts created, open a ticket in the request system and ask for course accounts.
- Be sure to include the course number and section numbers.
- If your course is offered under two or more course numbers, be sure to
include all these course numbers and their section numbers.
- If you need accounts for just one or a couple sections of a course, but not all sections, please include only the numbers of the sections you need.
The CSG will get the class list from the Office of the Registrar and create the accounts. The paperwork for the accounts will be put in the instructor's mailbox.
Course Directories
The CSG automatically creates a course directory for your course whenever you request course accounts. All course directories are in the /group/class directory. You and anyone in the TA permissions group for your course will have write access to this directory. The directory will be publically readable.
If you have teaching assistants whom you would like to have write access to the directory, put their usernames in the request for course accounts. The TAs' usernames will be added to the TA permissions group for the course, which will give them write access.
Course directories are deleted before the start of the next term. Be sure to copy anything you may want to save from your course directories once the course has ended.
Accounts for Students Who Add a Course
For students who have added a class, please open a request ticket and ask for course accounts for them. Include the course number and each student's name and University ID number. Please do not send requests via paper, please do not send or take students to the CSG office, and please do not tell students to ask for an account themselves.
