Campus Email Routing Alias

Every faculty and staff member and every student at The University of Iowa has an email routing alias, which Information Technology Services (ITS) supports and maintains. The email routing alias is usually something like "firstname-lastname@uiowa.edu". This email routing alias is the mail address that you should share with others as your official University of Iowa email address. (See Official Mail for important information about your email routing address.)

When configuring an email client to use your Mathematical Sciences email account, you must use your full Mathematical Sciences email address as your sender (or From:) address. Your full Mathematical Sciences email address will be username@cs.uiowa.edu, username@math.uiowa.edu, or username@stat.uiowa.edu, depending on your department, where username is your Mathematical Sciences account username. However, most email clients will let you configure a separate reply (or Reply-To:) address, and you can use your campus email routing alias as your reply address.

You can configure your email routing alias to direct email to any account you like. Faculty and staff can configure their routing aliases via the Human Resources Self-Service site. Students can configure their routing aliases via ISIS.

If you want to use your Mathematical Sciences email account to receive mail from your email routing alias, then configure the routing alias with your Mathematical Sciences email address.
