Spam marking systems are not perfect, and it's possible that a few messages that you may want to read may be marked as spam. If this happens, please follow this procedure:
-
Determine whether the Mathematical Sciences mail server marked the
message as spam. If the Subject: header begins with [SPAM?]-
followed by a number, then the message was most likely marked by the
Mathematical Sciences server. Otherwise, it may have been marked by the
central campus mail servers.
If the message was marked by the Mathematical Sciences mail server, then:
-
Save the message to a separate folder. The folder should have only
messages that have been incorrectly marked.
Open a trouble ticket in the request system. Explain that you have received messages that have been incorrectly marked as spam. Include the name of the folder where you have saved the messages.
The Computer Support Group (CSG) will use your saved messages to reconfigure the spam marking system. Someone from the CSG will inform you when this has been done, and you can then delete the saved message, if you like.
