Note: If you subscribe to any shared folders, you may want to configure your email client to check for new messages in your shared folders.
Alpine
All shared folders that you have access to should automatically appear in Alpine.
Apple Mail

There should be a folder named "Other Users" in your "Mailboxes" window along the left side of your Apple Mail window. If you do not see "Other Users", you may need to resynchronize your mailboxes.
Click on the "Other Users" folder. The shared folders that you have access to should now appear underneath "Other Users".
Eudora

There should be a folder named "Other Users" in your "Mailboxes" window along the left side of your Eudora window. If you do not see "Other Users", you may need to refresh your mailbox list:

In the "Mailboxes" window, right-click on the name of the personality for your account. (This is usually something like "
Click on the "+" in the small box to the left of the "Other Users" folder symbol. The shared folders that you have access to should now appear underneath "Other Users".
Outlook
The procedure to view shared folders is the same as the procedure to subscribe to folders. All shared folders that you have access to will appear as subfolders of the "Other Folders" folder.
Outlook Express
Unfortunately, due to either a bug or poor design, there does not seem to be a way to make Outlook Express remember shared folders. So, each time you start Outlook Express, follow this procedure:

In the "Folders" window, right-click on your account root--probably, it
will be named "mail.divms.uiowa.edu".
In the pop-up menu, click on "IMAP Folders...".
Click on the "All" tab.
Scroll down to "Other Users". All shared folders that you have access to
should appear beneath "Other Users".
Highlight the shared folders that you want to read. Do not highlight
"Other Users".
Click on the "Show" button to the right.
Click on the "Go to" button at the bottom. Do not click on the "OK"
button.
pine
All shared folders that you have access to should automatically appear in Pine.
Thunderbird

Right-click on your Inbox.
In the menu, select "Subscribe..."
Scroll down to the folder named "Other Users".
Click on the "+" in the small box to the left of the "Other Users" folder symbol. Shared folders that you have access to should now appear underneath "Other Users".
Click on the box beside each shared folder you want to subscribe to, so that the box shows a check mark.
When you have checked every box you want to subscribe to, click on the "Subscribe" button.
Click the "OK" button.
There should now be a folder named "Other Users" in your "Folders" tree in the box along the left side of your Thunderbird window.
Click on the "+" in the small box to the left of the "Other Users" folder symbol. The shared folders that you have subscribed to should now appear underneath "Other Users".
Webmail

If your Webmail environment is configured so that you need to subscribe to folders, then follow the instructions in
Subscribing to Folders to subscribe to
your shared folders.

The shared folders will appear under the "Other Folders" folder in the
folder list.
Click on the small "+" box to the left of "Other Folders" to see allw
shared folders that you have access to.

Click on the "Folders" icon in the menu across the top of the Webmail
page.
Scroll down the list of folders to "Other Folders".
Click on the small "+" box to the left of "Other Folders".
Shared folders that you have access to should now appear.
