Hardware
The Statistics cluster is a 22 node linux cluster with a gigabit ethernet interconnect. The node specs are as follows:
Head node (node00)
- Dell PowerEdge 6950
- CPU: 4 Dual Core Opteron 8216 (2.4GHz)
- RAM: 16GB
- Storage: 1 Terabyte
Client nodes (node01-node21)
- Dell PowerEdge SC1435
- CPU: 2 Dual Core Opteron 2216 (2.4GHz)
- RAM: 8GB
Current load
Only visible from UI CampusAccess
The Statistics cluster is not a shared resource. You will need to request an account from Kate Cowles or from Luke Tierney.
Once an account has been created for you, you can ssh to beowulf.stat.uiowa.edu, but only from a machine on the UIowa network.
Conventions
/space/yoyo has been provided as a place to install software, etc. yoyo stands for "You're On Your Own." Please read /space/yoyo/README before installing anything here.
/space/tmp is a temporary directory that is visible on all nodes
User home directories are in /space and are available on all nodes via NFS.
User home directories are NOT backed up.
/cluster is available on all node machines and includes software installed by the Computer Support Group
/cluster/statsoft is available on all node machines and includes software installed by the statsoft group
/cluster/scripts/user/ contains scripts that can be used to set various shell variables.
For the convenience of users, the path and certain environment variables have been set automatically. Please see the scripts in /etc/profile.d/ for more details.
